Matt Spessard
Senior Vice President, Global Chief Technology Officer
Matt Spessard has served as Senior Vice President, Global Chief Technology Officer for The Wendy’s Company since August 2022.
He is accountable for establishing the Wendy’s System global technology vision and leading technological innovation and development to enable fast, frictionless and fun customer, restaurant and employee experiences.
Using forward-leaning technology, Matt and his team are developing and implementing the technical strategy roadmap that supports continued Wendy’s System growth, creates a competitive brand advantage, and drives topline revenue.
Matt joined Wendy’s in June 2020 as Vice President, Restaurant Technology. Prior to that, he spent six years with Inspire Brands. He served in several roles of increasing accountability, including Vice President of Technology at SONIC.
He also previously held various operations and technology leadership roles at YUM! Brands, Reciprocity Restaurant Group (Church’s Chicken), and Braum's Ice Cream & Dairy Stores.
Having grown up in a small town, Matt says his childhood Wendy’s memories are of trips into “the big city,” where he and his family would often treat themselves to a Wendy’s meal. His favorite menu item these days are the Spicy Chicken Nuggets.
Matt studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Oklahoma.
